Waste to Energy treatment for landfills
Government owned entities are usually responsible for the Waste Management on the Caribbean Islands. Waste disposal currently takes place on Open Dumpsites, which are a health and environmental hazard. They typically have little to no formal management or measures in place to protect the environment, leading to high hidden costs associated with air pollution, water pollution, health risks, flooding and more.
It is of utmost importance to keep improving the Landfill Waste Management activities in accordance with available Waste Directive, Landfill Directive and the Waste Hierarchy. This to prevent, or reduce the potential impact of, pollution of the environment or harm to human health and encourage sustainable use of resources.
To accomplish the above objectives, the following steps must be taken:
- Transition from open dumpsites to sanitary landfill
- Installing landfill gas extraction wells
- Using waste processing/valorization technologies to reduce waste volume and creating value added products.
The BluEconomy organisation together with its strategic partners can support the Government owned entities with several activities like local waste analysis including landfill, and set up of a (turn-key) development plan. The required investments will be a subject of discussion with several opportunities as well..

- To prevent, or reduce the potential impact of, pollution of the
environment or harm to human health and encourage sustainable use
of resources, the following steps must be taken:
- Transition from open dumpsites to sanitary landfill
- Installing landfill gas extraction wells at current landfill; (Green Energy source)
- Using waste processing/valorization technologies to reduce waste volume and creating value added products (Green Energy source) A waste composition analysis is required to determine the most promising technology
- By installing landfill gas extraction system and waste processing technologies, it will contribute to a significant GHG emission reduction (Carbon Credits).
Secondly: Waste Water treatment; to hydrogen energy
With our newest technical partner we have developed
a very interesting program for Waste Water treatment organisations. We can install the latest purification technologies for different levels of cleaning with extreme low energy consumption, not only for purification like to irrigation level or better. So when an overflow is occuring even a safe dump in the ocean won't harm the natural habitat due to the high quality of the purified water. Green energy (hydrogen) can be produced as well. We will consult you on further use of this low cost energy source.
Thirdly: Water Desalination to drinking water.
With this technology we can purify the water to several levels like for irrigation quality and up to the best drinking water standards.
